On with the game release information:

Lost Planet 2 is the sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition,
the landmark third-person shooter which debuted on Xbox 360
and went on to sell over 2.3 million units worldwide after its
release. Lost Planet 2 offers deeper insight into the world of
E.D.N III and the uncertain fate of future mankind.

Players will control heroes from each faction across 6
interconnected episodes, viewing the war from the perspective
of each, creating a truly unique interactive experience. With
this concept, players will have the opportunity to engage in
the story in a much more dynamic way as plot threads evolve
from different players perspectives.

The intense and action-packed campaign mode comes with the
ability to form teams of up to 4 players online. Beyond the
deep single-player and co-op modes, Lost Planet 2 is loaded
with extensive multiplayer modes allowing up to 16 players to
compete online, each with their own customizable avatar.

Lost Planet 2's biggest weapons come on two legs: the heavily
armed and armored robotic Vital Suits return in greater
numbers and variety than the first game. There are VS that
transform into other vehicles, hold up to three players and
some that even take multiple players to operate.

Co-op action: Team up to battle the giant Akrid in explosive 4
player online co-operative play. Teamwork is the player's key
to victory as the team is dependent on each other to succeed
and survive.

Massive scale of enemies: Players skill on the battlefield and
ability to work as a team will be tested like never before
against the giant Akrid. Players will utilize teamwork
tactics, new weapons and a variety of vital suits (VS) to
fight these larger-than-life bosses.

Deep level of character customization: Players will have
hundreds of different ways to customize their look, nom de
guerre, emotes, and weapons to truly help them define their
character on the battlefield. A wide array of customizable
abilities range from taking less damage, to running faster to
operating data posts quicker

Rewards System: Players will receive rewards for assisting
teammates and contributing to the team's success

Multiplayer: Compete in 16-player multiplayer matches with
nine different maps and 5 different game modes including
Data Post Battle, Akrid Egg Battle, Fugitive, Elimination and
Team Elimination. Additional maps will be available as
downloadable content after the game's release.

Exciting new VS features- Based on fan feedback, the team has
implemented an unbelievable variety of Vital Suits and new
ways to combat VS's. The new VS system will have a powerful
impact on the way the player takes to the war zone in Lost
Planet 2

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 (USA) - xbox 360

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 (USA) - xbox 360

The Story

The thing I'll say for Raging Blast 2 is that there really is no story. It's basically a collection of battles strung loosely together within the mythos of the series. The single player does not give a cohesive story mode and instead you're forced to pick a character, fight through their galaxy, and repeat the same steps with another fighter shortly thereafter. It's a tedious process that yields some narrative rewards such as unlockable videos and whatnot, but it's hardly engrossing.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 fighting

Gameplay

Raging Blast 2 is a game that's broken down into a few different modes. The aforementioned single player gives gamers the choice of selecting one of several characters and fighting through that character's galaxy. A galaxy is a string of battles that aren't really connected to each other in any way. The amount and difficulty of these confrontations varies per character and for the most part there's a nice sense of progression. Galaxies start out easy to give players time to learn their character's moves and after a few rounds the challenge spikes considerably. As players complete stages there are rewards, such as special attacks and items, that can added to their characters. It keeps some things fresh, but ultimately feels like a tacked on customization feature.

It's in the single player mode that the complexities of the controls will make themselves known. Combat is frantic to say the least. There are combo attacks to unleash, ranged ki attacks, throws, super moves, and ultimate skills. Balancing all of these elements together while on the ground or in the air is a thing of beauty when it's done right. Over-the-top power attacks really dazzle and will tickle fans of the anime, but in multiplayer there are some problems with the system. No amount of skill will really help against an effective spammer. Players can practice techniques and combos all day only to be taken down by a person too familiar with the X button. Raging Blast 2 is an example of a game that's brilliant in some of its execution, but downright sloppy and sluggish in others.

Aside from playing through the single player, there are some versus modes as well. The local player Battle mode is rather straight forward as it lets you fight a friend or the computer. On the other side of the multiplayer equation is the option to take your game onto Xbox Live. Here you'll find ranked and player matches, freestyle (which lets you used customized characters), and a structured tournament.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 spin kick

Aside from a slew of spammers and people who disconnect when they start to lose (there's no downside to doing so), online modes have another hiccup in the system as well; you have to play countless hours of single player in order to unlock more than half of the characters. That's right, if you want to play as Super Saiyan Goku, Cell's ultimate form, or even different versions of Frieza, you really have to dedicate hours and hours to slogging through each character's galaxy. This creates repetition and really drains the fun out of the experience. Adding to that frustration is the fact that most of the characters all play the same anyway. Many super attacks are identical and there is very little uniqueness on the character select board.

Ultimately Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 isn't a bad game. When two players who really know their character's strengths get together matches can often become epic confrontations that destroy the environment. Unfortunately this happens few and far between. Multiplayer matches tend to be frustrating more than anything and the single player is about as monotonous and dry as one can get. This is a game that's only for the most diehard fans of the franchise, and even then there are still better gaming options out there.

Achievements:

The achievements in Raging Blast 2 will take forever and a day to complete. Sure there are little points for taking the first steps in most every mode, but to really get the big scorers one has to play the game for hours on end. Beating every galaxy, collecting every unlockable, and kicking some serious ass online take nearly all the fun out of the game. Even dedicated achievement mongers will find themselves questioning the world of many of the points.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 magic purple

Graphics

When looking at the visuals in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, there are really two ways to see things. The character models are spot on representations of their animated counterparts right down to most of their super moves. A great amount of time and effort went into capturing the personality of the anime and all the fighters. With that being said there are hit detection faults and glitches aplenty. Environments are also rather bland and ugly by comparison, and there's a distinct lack of detail. Then again the game moves fast and most players won't have time to stop and smell the roses, as it were.

Sound

The voice actors in the game all fit the bill perfectly. With both the English and Japanese cast being present there's really something for everyone here. With that being said the soundtrack is simply awful and adds nothing positive to the experience. Fortunately the in game hits, screams, and explosions drown everything else out.

Conclusion

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is a collection of ups and downs. On the plus side the core gameplay is fun and rewarding, character models look great, and there is decent online support. On the downside button mashers can destroy everyone, there's no penalty for dropping from a match, to get the most of the game you have to play through countless hours of single player, and environments are bland. Really though, monotony is the biggest killer of the experience here. It takes what could have been a fun romp through the Dragon Ball universe and makes it feel like a chore.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 - RELOADED - Pc game download free

PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2011 is here and will bring digital soccer to the next
level. Central to the heart and soul of PES 2011 is the idea of freedom of
play. This freedom invigorates the series with the most advanced set of
gamplay improvements ever attempted by the Winning Eleven Production team,
coupled with the greatest stride in new content. The result will be a game
that allows total control over every element of play - even online - to give
the most lifelike soccer experience next to actually putting on a uniform and
taking the field.Features:Total Control: PES Productions has enhanced the
360-degree passing ratio, offering unprecedented levels of control over every
pass, shot, throw-in, through ball and lofted through balls. Users can pass
the ball into space, and move their play with total freedom. Players must
precisely weight their passes and second-guess the runs of their team-mates
and exploit their movement. Players even can apply pressure on opponents to
force them off the ball.Shot & Stamina Gauge: In addition to the generic
power gauge, the Shot & Stamina meter details the player's exact level of
fitness. Constantly sprinting will have an adverse affect on performance and
statisticsNew Defender AI: Defenders now hold their positions naturally,
instead of chasing balls that enter their area and work to close down the
attacker to force mistakesAnimation and Player Physics: PES Productions has
totally reworked every element of in-game animation. These additions will
become clear before even kick-off, with the players enjoying fluid, natural
movements, with more realistic acceleration and inertia than ever before. The
physicality between players is also improved, which was a priority requested
in PES forums. Jostling and blocking now looks stunning, while there is a
larger variety of convincing tackling styles. Ambient animation also adds
immensely to the in-game atmosphere, as players behave realistically when off
the ball, and walk and run with a variety of individual styles.Speed of Play:
The new level of control means that PES 2011 enjoys a more varied pace of
play, which depends on the situation at hand. The game will burst into life
as counter-attacks come into play, but players can dictate the pace via slow
build up or exploiting available space to surge forward. It is harder to make
long runs from midfield, and successful play will depend on making quick
passes to create space.Aesthetics: PES 2010 showcased the best likenesses in
a football game, and PES 2011 ups the ante further. Facial animation has been
enhanced, but the key advances are over 1000 all-new animations which have
been recreated from the ground up using over 100 hours of motion captured

Crysis - Razor1911 - pc games full download

Crysis-Razor1911

German developer Crytek made a big splash with their previous title, Far Cry, which garnered a fair amount of critical acclaim and became somewhat
of a cult classic. Now, they've once again set out to turn the PC world on its head with Crysis. After being announced in early 2006, Crysis quickly
became a poster child for Microsoft's latest API, DirectX 10, showcasing the gorgeous effects and photorealistic textures that the platform was capable
of. Now the title has finally been released on the public, and the results live up to the hype.
No bones about it, Crysis is the most gorgeous game ever, boasting many great effects and cinematic details that pull you in like no game before it. The
gameplay is also great, with intense action and excellent AI. Unfortunately, to see Crysis as its meant to be seen, youll need a super-high-end PC
with all of the latest bells and whistles; otherwise the look will be way scaled down. Still, if youve got the machine that can handle it, Crysis is
one of the best shooters that youll get your hands on this year.
Crysis presents you as a soldier sent down with your elite unit to investigate some happenings in North Korea. However, once there, things take a turn
as members of your unit begin dying off under mysterious circumstances. The situation grows much worse once you discover that youre not only fighting
North Koreans, but something thats not of this world as well.
One element that helps Crysis distinguish itself apart from other shooters is the Nanosuit. Your character may be a one-man army, but he wouldnt get
very far were it not for his protective suit, which can allow you to have super-strength or speed, as well as go invisible with a Predator-like cloaking
system. Youll use the Nanosuits functions constantly throughout Crysis, and the open-ended nature of the game allows you to use them however youd
like. You could use your cloaking device to covertly take out your enemies or go in there with super-strength activated and hoist cars and chuck them at
your enemies, its up to you.

Crysis also has some extremely impressive AI under the hood. Much like in Far Cry, the AI will search you out realistically, attacking in formations and
calling out for reinforcements. The alien AI acts a lot more organic than the human AI as well, not quite attacking in a pattern, but rather pouncing
like an animal, which is a nice touch and pretty frightening.
However, the graphical presentation is what will truly have people talking about Crysis. Given the right PC configuration, the game is absolutely
stunning, with amazing textures and an obsessive attention to detail. The character models look fantastic, and the jungle environments feel alive and
teeming with elements. The games engine allows for great effects that help with the games ambiance, like frost appearing on the scope of your gun
during the ice-covered areas, or trees splitting in half and collapsing when under gunfire. The game looks amazing, and will no doubt dazzle any gamer.
Unfortunately, all of this beauty comes at a hefty price. The game requires a behemoth of a gaming rig to run properly, and you must be running Windows
Vista to get all of the DX10 benefits. While the game will work in DX9 (and look pretty damn great doing it), youll need a fully equipped computer
running Vista with at least an 8800 card to get good results.
The sound effects are very well done, with fantastic effects like explosions and gunfire booming from all directions as well as small nuanced sounds
that come from your nanosuit. The soundtrack is also well done, fitting within the mood of the game nicely. The voice acting sounds nice, but some
elements (like the Korean voice work) sound a bit on the cheesy side.

Crysis is an artistic triumph on the PC, offering up an aesthetically incredible experience with solid and exciting gameplay. The game is incredibly
immersive if your computer can handle it.

System Requirements:
* CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better
* RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)
* Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better
* VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory
* Storage: 15GB
* Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
* ODD: DVD-ROM
* OS: Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Vista
* DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Alan Wake - XBOX 360 (NTSC) Download

Alan Wake - XBOX 360 (NTSC)

Title: Alan Wake
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Developer: Remedy Entertainment
Genre: Action/Thriller
Players: 1
Rated: T for Teen

After being announced in 2005, Alan Wake fell off the radar. Now, in 2010, the game is finally a few weeks away from being released. However, should you still be interested in Alan Wake after the long span?

Alan Wake follows the title character, who is an author that hasn’t found the motivation to write a new book. To try and help this, his wife, Alice, convinces him to go to Bright Falls. During the trip, Alice gets kidnapped when the lights in their cabin goes off, starting a chain of events around Alan. The entire story is told by him like a narrator as he progresses.

Before this starts, though, players go through a dream sequence (tutorial level) where Alan tries to reach a lighthouse while dodging enemies in his dreams. Eventually, you find out that the enemies that are surrounded by darkness are called the Taken.

This is actually symbolic of what most of the game revolves around: light and darkness. Enemies are always protected by darkness when you first encounter them. To weaken them, light needs to be shined on them until the darkness disappears. You can tell how much you need to weaken them by a ring of light that will become smaller the longer light hits them.

Throughout most of the game, Alan will be armed with his flashlight to weaken enemies. While other light traps will be able to be used in the game, the flashlight is the main mechanic. By holding down LT, Alan can concentrate the flashlight beam to weaken enemies faster. However, this drains the battery when it’s used. The power will recharge over time, but the battery can be replaced to get a partial instant recharge.

So, this often becomes a choice of when to use the charge and when to just let the normal beam take the darkness down slower. You can hold up to 20 Energizer batteries (yes, product placement is seen every time you pick up a pack), but I found myself conserving these as much as possible. Weaker enemies normally can be taken down with a few short charge bursts and the normal stream. It was the bigger enemies and possessed items I found myself using the charge on the most.

Speaking of the enemy types, I want to detail them. There are basically five types: fast ones that drain quickly and take one shot to kill, average which take two shots to kill, bigger ones that can rush you and take around four shots to kill, possessed items which will fly at you that just need their darkness drained and bosses. The bosses vary from big and quick ones to waves of birds and more. Normally, if you need to fight them there is plenty of ammo around to use though.

Anyways, after taking an enemy’s darkness down, you can then kill them with one of the guns found throughout the game. A revolver and flare gun can be held, along with a bigger gun (shotgun, hunting rifle, etc.). Each of these can be reloaded with X, but tapping the button will reload faster, which is helpful in many of the tight situations you’ll be in.

Later in the game, you’ll also be able to pick up usable items, like flares and flashbang grenades. Flares can quickly drain the darkness for any Taken around it, while flashbangs can kill them.

Light is used in the game for more than just damaging enemies though. The Flashlight can reveal hidden arrows that point you in the direction of hidden crates with items to pick up, or reveals text that adds to the story.

The flashlight can also be used to get rid of black goo that appears in some areas that can damage you. Also, a heavy duty flashlight with a longer life can be picked up later in the game.

In some areas, there will be pre-lit areas that are Safe Havens that will instantly heal you and destroy any Taken chasing you. You heal slowly over time as well, but this was nice to find when I started getting swarmed.

Some of these Safe Havens must first be started by a generator. These are normally activated by performing a short quick time event of pressing A when it is in the green zone.

To get to the Safe Havens, normally the dodge was helpful to get around the Taken that are coming after you. In fact, dodging is key to survive in this game.

Finally, the light normally lets you know which way to go in the game. Overall, the light/dark mechanic is done extremely well in the game, and even adds to the story.

The story is also done nicely. Besides the multiple twists and suspense, the story is broken up into individual episodes. The episodes are decent sized, and normally ended how an actual TV show would, with a cliffhanger followed by ending music. To keep this feel up, the next episode starts by telling what happened in the last episode before starting off slow with no fighting. The intro normally just gave background as to what would be happening during the episode. Also, guns and the flashlight are normally lost at the beginning of each episode, but you get them back a short ways in.

As you go through the game, various things can be collected or listened to, such as can pyramids, coffee thermos, radio shows, TV shows (which are a parody of Twilight Zone) and manuscripts. The ones that are interesting are the manuscripts, which help give back story and foreshadowing over what is happening. One thing to note is that some of the pages can only be found in Nightmare difficulty.

Another thing to note in the game is that you can Drive a vehicle at certain times. The vehicles that can be driven are often marked by lights or have their lights on. Like the flashlight, the headlights can be boosted. However, draining the battery in the car just dims the headlights until the battery recharges. The car can be used to run enemies over, but not until they have lost their darkness. Also, the car can be damaged, but there is no health bar to give an exact measurement on how bad the damage is.

Graphically, the game looks great. The light and darkness adds a lot to the graphics with various effects. Plus, Bright Falls and the surrounding area has a lot of detail and is great to explore. While it may not be open world, you can still get off the beaten trailer and wander around to see the area while you get to the next area.

The sound is just as good. The narration that Alan gives will keep you entertained and involved with the story, and each character’s dialogue is done just as well. Plus, the soundtracks at the end of the episodes and that play on the Radio give a good break from the rest of the game.

Bayonetta - XBOX 360 (pal)

Bayonetta.PAL.XBOX 360
(i have not played this game coz i havent Xbox 360 just copy this review from ign.com)
When I say "action game," I refer of course to games like Devil May Cry, God of War and Ninja Gaiden. I think most gamers can agree that all these titles do similar things (despite their notable differences), so it's safe for me to compare them all and claim that Bayonetta is my favorite. This over-the-top affair from Team Little Angels at Platinum Games not only delivers some of the most sublime combat mechanics around but it coats the experience in an eccentric, hyper-stylish shell that everyone with a 360 should experience. Hideki Kamiya, the director of Bayonetta and the man behind such legendary projects as the original Devil May Cry, Okami and Viewtiful Joe, should be commended for his incredible work. Kamiya and his team have created an action masterpiece.

At the heart of Bayonetta is a story about the traditional balance between light and darkness. Long ago, two clans -- the Lumen Sages and Umbran Witches -- maintained the balance between the opposing forces. The Lumen, aligned with the god of Paradiso, controlled the power of light, while the Umbra, funneling power from the demons of Inferno, watched over the darkness. Both clans had deep respect for each other, but a tragic event caused the two clans to enter into a terrible war. At the end, only one Umbra Witch remained: Bayonetta.

One of the most brilliant things about this backstory is how the two clans are portrayed. The Umbra Witches aren't necessarily evil so much as they are an important part of the universe's balance. The game, after all, is mostly about Bayonetta killing the angelic legions that stand in her way to the truth, but I never felt evil or diabolical while playing. It's just Bayonetta's purpose, and she fulfills that purpose with extreme skill.

Bayonetta is one of the coolest female characters I've ever come across in gaming. Although her sexuality is highlighted at almost every turn (which might lead gamers to believe she's a stereotypical heroine), she is also immensely powerful, calm and confident. Bayonetta is one of my main reasons to play the game, as she's just terribly fun to watch.

Of course, not everything about the narrative is great. Bayonetta's plot is all over the place, as certain character motivations and past events aren't clearly explained. Once you complete the game, things make quite a bit more sense, but this isn't as skillfully told as game stories like Mass Effect and Uncharted.

But raw storytelling shouldn't be your only reason for picking up a copy of Bayonetta (people like Ninja Gaiden, after all). This is an action game, so action is what you're going to get. The combat system is fairly easy to grasp but has an almost unimaginable amount of depth. The face buttons are used to punch, kick, fire Bayonetta's handguns (regardless of what weapon she has equipped) and jump. The most important input besides the face buttons is pulling the right trigger. This will cause Bayonetta to dodge in any direction, which is arguably the most important technique players must master when learning the Bayonetta combat system.

When dodging an attack, timing is key. Pull the right trigger just before an attack lands and Bayonetta will leap out of the way in slow motion, which activates Witch Time. This allows Bayonetta to move at incredible speeds while her opponents are trapped in a sluggish state. Witch Time is implemented brilliantly, because it not only allows for phenomenal special effects, but also lets players catch their breath, reorient themselves and score a few much-needed hits on tougher enemies.

Bayonetta is too cool for school.

When it comes to the offensive side of the coin, Bayonetta also excels. The beautiful witch has the ability to equip weapons on both her hands and her feet, which helps lend a very unique taste to the combat mechanics. At the start of the game, Bayonetta's set of four pistols, Scarborough Fair, is used as both upper body and lower body weapons -- one gun for each hand and foot. As players progress through the game, more weapons are discovered, like a demonic katana, clawed gauntlets, ice skates (yes, really) and more. Each weapon combination results in a new set of combos, which is truly astounding. Having the freedom to wield a glowing katana blade while skating around the environment is almost too good to be true.

This massive number of combo sets might seem overwhelming, but fortunately most combos have similar inputs. For example, almost every combination of weapons a player comes up with will almost always have a combo for hitting "punch, kick, punch" in a row. This lets players bleed their skill over into new weapons, which is great. And while players can get away with just pounding on one button to attack, the element of skill comes into play when executing well-timed dodges and preserving a combo string for high scores.

Of course, there's much more to fighting than just performing combos and dodging attacks. When facing the many angels of the divine, Bayonetta can perform Torture attacks when her magic gauge fills up enough. These attacks -- which can be executed by hitting both punch and kick simultaneously -- are usually unique to each angel type and deal tremendous amounts of damage. Bayonetta, for example, will summon up a guillotine, a massive spiked wheel or some other fiendish device and then pulverize her poor angelic opponent. This system adds a great physical element to the normally skill-based, time-sensitive combat, as players can mash away at a button to power up the attack and earn more halos (the currency in the Bayonetta world).

Just Cause 2-RELOADED - PC Games free download

Just Cause 2-RELOADED - PC Games

Just Cause 2 is ridiculous in the best possible way. In the space of a few moments, you can grapple to a hovering helicopter; beat up the pilot and hijack the chopper; blow up a cluster of fuel tanks; put the chopper on a collision course with an enormous antenna; jump out at the last moment; and watch the resulting explosion as you parachute down to the saddle of a moving motorcycle below. But in the life of Rico Rodriguez, such events are just another day at the office, though in this case, the office is the gigantic island nation of Panau, where three gangs vie to wrest control from a corrupt government. This is a big game that gives you a lot to do and a lot of crazy ways to do it. When Just Cause 2 gives you the freedom to do the things you want in the way you want, it shines in all its preposterousness and good humor. When missions and challenges shoehorn you into specific actions, however, the same loose mechanics that make the open-world exploration such a joy become a frustrating burden. Nevertheless, this sandbox action game surmounts its few issues with liberal doses of ludicrousness; well, that, and the ability to attach disreputable cops to a buggy with your grappling hook and drag them around.

Just pure, freewheeling fun.
There's a story tying all of the craziness together, but it's about as believable as the crazy stunts you pull. As in the original Just Cause, you play as Rico, a member of a US agency called, appropriately enough, The Agency. The story is all silly fluff, standing out more for its so-excruciating-it's-almost-good voice acting and broad ethnic caricatures than for any intricate plot developments. (Don't bother looking: There aren't any.) You'll probably have more fun trying to figure out where different characters are from based on their insane accents than you will working out what exactly is going on or why you should care, but the tale still works well in light of the game's screwy attitude. Contradictory updates from the government-run news agency will have you giggling precisely because they're so crazy; Rico offhandedly dismisses the insane, supernatural events that occur after an eventful flight into a Bermuda Triangle-type region. Most importantly, the tale provides oh-so-implausible excuses to blow up gas stations, radar installations, and offshore oil platforms.
And blowing stuff up is what Just Cause 2 does best. Causing explosions leads to chaos, which functions as a type of currency in Just Cause 2. To unlock new story missions and other goodies, you need to wreak as much havoc as you can, and you get lots of different, preposterous ways to do it. If you see a grouping of fuel tanks, you could just run in and shoot them with a machine gun, but that is one of the less dramatic ways to do it and will use up ammo besides. (And early on, the game is a bit too stingy with ammo, given the focus on making things go boom.) But why approach things in such a pedestrian manner? Instead, you could hijack a passenger jet, put it on a destructive path, and jump out at the last minute. Or you could steal a hulking tank, drive it to a central location, and start blasting everything that looks like it might erupt in a ball of flames. The dramatic approach can take a bit more time, but it usually leads to a good deal of entertainment. Yet, even if you do things the easy way and use a dinky pistol, the explosions are perfectly loud, big, bright, and obnoxious.

You'll make approximately one zillion things explode. And it never gets old.
Of course, such noisy endeavors will get the attention of the local authorities. It's amazing just how quickly swarms of militants will descend on you. (You might actually see soldiers fade into view directly in front of you.) The most obvious way of handling them is to fill them with lead, and when you're surrounded by enemies, Just Cause 2's loose shooting mechanics work just fine. The ultraforgiving autotargeting makes it easy to run about spraying fire, though you can zoom in if you need a bit more precision, like if you are taking out a military colonel and need to land a headshot. If you use a controller, you might run into troubles with that same autotargeting; You can aim and shoot directly at a guy's head as he leans out a car door but not land any hits. But if you're using a mouse and keyboard, you aren't likely to encounter this issue, and you're getting a more fluid experience to boot.
When you're surrounded by a dozen armed baddies and bombarded by a hovering helicopter, however, making a quick getaway may be the best option. Rico's grappling hook is a real life saver in these circumstances. You might attach it to a nearby building and fling yourself onto a roof or grapple the ground and pull yourself out of harm's way. Better yet, you can pull off a sort of inverted Spider-Man routine by grappling the ground, hurling yourself into the air, and opening your handy parachute before you hit the ground. Once airborne, you can repeat the move over and over, flinging yourself around using the grapple hook like Spidey would use his webbing. From the air, you can perform some satisfyingly silly stunts. For example, if you'd rather travel around in a motorized rickshaw, you can grapple on to one, pull yourself onto its roof, and evict the driver, who will undoubtedly be vocal about his or her displeasure. Or perhaps that chopper is still dogging you. In that case, grapple onto it, chuck the pilot out, and take it for your own. But it's plenty satisfying just to travel using your hook and parachute. It takes a little time to get used to the rhythm of taking off, but once you're accustomed to it, there's nothing like soaring above Panau's snow-capped mountains or taking in a beautiful sunset while floating slowly toward the beach.

There's more to traveling around this gargantuan isle than just parachutes and rickshaws, however. There are more than 100 different vehicles to drive and pilot, from sedans and double-decker buses to commuter aircraft and speedboats. The physics are loose and wild, which lets you pull off some crazy stunt jumps off of ramps and cliffs. It's always fun, too, to get some good speed in a motorcycle and parachute away and then watch the bike zoom off without a driver. Often, it will even explode for no apparent reason other than the obvious thrill of it all, as if you're supposed to believe you ejected just in time. The loose handling of most of these vehicles suits the chaotic nature of the game rather well, and assuming you're not trying to do anything too specific, random wipeouts are to be expected and are even rather enjoyable when they occur. (You might get a chance to perform a daring and unplanned escape as you go careening over a cliff, after all.) If you're taking part in one of Just Cause 2's racing challenges, however, the lively physics don't always work to your benefit. A race in a speedboat, for example, might send you over a thin stretch of land. This could lead to a superfun sequence of tumbles and spins before you zoom away on the other side. But it could also lead to a frustrating sequence of tumbles and spins that deposits you directly on the beach and keeps you from completing the challenge. Aircraft challenges can also be exasperating because you don't have the ability to yaw (that is, move from side to side), and the relaxed controls make it easy to overshoot the ring you're meant to fly through.

This is a great way to see what your snazzy video card is capable of.
Panau is an incredibly impressive place to explore. Tall snow-covered mountains cradle ski resorts and military bases between them. Beachside shacks dot the ocean shores, where gorgeous lighting gleams on the ocean waves. The capital city shows off a beautiful nighttime skyline. Should you plummet below the ocean, you'll admire the striking underwater views, which feature tropical fish and colorful coral reefs. Just Cause 2 is a stunning game and provides a marvelous variety of vistas to gawk at, and the draw distance lets you take in a lot at once. We ran into a few occasions in which ground textures displayed a faint grid overlay, but a few setting adjustments seemed to fix that up. You should note, however, that you'll need to be running either Windows Vista or Windows 7 to play Just Cause 2: The game does not support Windows XP. The audio doesn't meet the same lofty standard, but it does what it needs to do, with lots of energy if not much nuance. An American friend speaks with a big yee-haw accent and gang leaders deliver their banal lines in a weird, halting manner and with unidentifiable inflections. Explosions look big and sound loud. It's all about broad strokes, and while not every aspect of the audio makes a good impression, the overall effect is fitting given Just Cause 2's over-the-top inclinations.
The game gives you plenty of reasons to visit all of these varied locations. The many villages dotting the geography harbor rewards like gas tanks to blow up and weapon and vehicle parts to collect. Those parts can be used to enhance the effectiveness of your guns and rides--you just need to call up the black market dealer and choose how you want to apply them. You can also call the dealer if you want him to drop off a weapon or vehicle or to quickly travel to a location you've already visited. The implementation of this mechanic could have used some tweaking. For example, you can't order up more than one item at a time (if you want both a shotgun and a chopper, you need to make two calls). But considering how easy it is to find weapons and how much fun it is to parachute around, you won't need the black market contact all that frequently. Even if you aren't inclined to collect the scattered treasures, there's intrinsic joy in seeking out and blowing up propaganda stations and demolishing the statues of island dictator Baby Panay. Maybe that's because you can grapple one of those statues to a fire truck, hop behind the wheel, and pull the false idol down.

The dialogue won't win any awards, but it'll still make you guffaw in spite of yourself.
Amid all this free-form gameplay are loads of faction missions to perform for the three gangs you work with, as well as some longer agency missions that progress the story. Some of these missions are fun and varied, such as one in which you must defuse a series of bombs by stunt jumping from one vehicle to another. Most of them combine Just Cause 2's various mechanics in interesting ways, having you fly an aircraft, infiltrate guarded fortresses, and destroy specific objects in the course of a single assignment. But even when flaunting this kind of variety, some missions aren't very enjoyable because they magnify the small issues that barely register during your free-form travels. For example, the waypoint arrow gets confused by different altitudes, which is rarely an issue when you are just traveling to your chosen destination, but it's a bigger annoyance when a time limit is pushing you to find an exact spot. Heavily scripted escort missions saddle you with AI companions who think nothing of wandering into fire. And stronghold takeovers get monotonous because they play out more or less the same way every time. The game's loose mechanics make for freewheeling fun when you choose your own actions, but they can sometimes lead to irritations when the game pushes you down a specific path.
These aren't game-breaking flaws, however; certainly not in light of the huge and attractive world Just Cause 2 places at your fingertips. There's a lot to do, a lot of sights to take in, and a lot of secrets to uncover if you look hard enough--and the game is so much fun that you'll have a blast doing it. After all, you can grapple to a gas canister, shoot it, and fly into the air like a rocket. And if that sounds like fun to you, it's time for a vacation to the island paradise of Panau.

HALO REACH - xbox 360

HALO REACH - Xbox 360

Before the discovery and destruction of an ancient alien ringworld, before a teeming parasitic enemy threatened Earth, before a soldier called John-117 made a new name for himself, humanity fought to defend the planet Reach. And though Halo: Reach is a prequel to all the Halo games that have come before, it represents the evolutionary pinnacle of the series. From the expertly tuned combat to the expansive level design and from the innovative online integration to the robust creation tools, all the pillars of Halo's success are in top form here, tied together seamlessly by an elegant and intuitive menu system. While the core mechanics remain very familiar, invigorating new elements and extensive customization options make it so there are more ways to enjoy yourself than ever. Halo: Reach is one of the most fully featured games on consoles today, and it's also one of the best.

One of the first things you notice about Halo: Reach is the refined menu system. In addition to presenting the main gameplay modes, the main menu displays the status of your friends who are playing Reach and allows you to peruse their service records and invite them to your party with ease. Entering a mode, tweaking options, and starting up a match is an effortless process, and your party members can come with you almost everywhere you go. The interface allows you to easily explore game types, customization tools, and user-created content without getting swamped or overwhelmed. It's remarkable that everything is this easily accessible, because Halo: Reach is absolutely packed with great content.
Halo campaigns have traditionally had epic aspirations, and Halo: Reach is no different. Whether you play solo or cooperatively with up to four players, you play as the newest member of Noble team. Your first mission is to investigate a distress signal in a rural mountainous area, and it's no surprise when the source of the distress turns out to be the Covenant. Small skirmishes and reconnaissance missions soon escalate to all-out war as humanity tries to repel the alien invaders. Anyone familiar with the Halo canon knows how that one ends, but it's thrilling to be a part of Noble team's efforts. You undertake missions of increasingly crucial strategic importance, and this urgency is conveyed without any reliance on previous Halo knowledge. Instead, the characters you interact with help set the tone, and your squadmates have unique personalities that go a long way toward keeping you emotionally invested in the action. There are some cliches and a few cheap moments, but the story successfully channels the forthright heroism of soldiers who are committed to their cause. This earnest appeal makes Halo: Reach's campaign one of the most satisfying in the series.
The campaign also benefits from great pacing and a cohesive sense of place. The slow burn of the early levels explodes into frenetic large-scale conflict, and some good dramatic turns and an engrossing musical score keep the pace from fizzling out as the game builds toward a climactic ending. Your missions take you through a rich array of environments, from rural farming communities to high-country military outposts and from dry, rocky steppes to battered city streets. Throughout these diverse locations, the mountainous geography of Reach remains a constant presence that helps you connect with the land you are fighting to defend. Levels are often expansive, offering stunning views and allowing for some nice gameplay diversity. In addition to a number of classic vehicles that still handle marvelously, there are a few new rides that provide some kicks of their own. There's also a space-faring first for the series, and though this sequence is a bit shallow, it doesn't overstay its welcome and features some gorgeous orbital vistas.
The campaign provides excitement aplenty, and adding some friends to the mix makes it even more enjoyable. Picking your own routes through the battlefield is more exciting when you know your buddies are doing it too, and it leads to some great moments of teamwork, both planned and unexpected. Though the friendly AI is generally harmless, it has trouble when it comes to driving, so you're better off driving yourself or trusting a friend behind the wheel. If you want to spice things up a bit, you can keep score individually or as a team, using skulls (now found in an options screen rather than hidden in levels) to modify battlefield conditions and boost your scoring potential. And if you don't have any friends available to join you, the online campaign matchmaking can easily set you up with squadmates. These options, along with the stellar core action, the excellent level design, and the well-balanced difficulty levels, make this great campaign supremely replayable.
Back after a very successful debut in Halo 3: ODST, the Firefight mode once again offers up to four players an arena to take on increasingly difficult waves of Covenant enemies. This is largely the same addictively entertaining experience, though it now boasts full online matchmaking support. Frantically fighting off hordes of enemies is as exciting and satisfying as ever, and the new maps and gameplay variants offer many different ways to enjoy this mode. You can take on a tougher challenge by choosing to defend generators in addition to killing Covenant or add a bit of levity by fighting hordes of grunts that fling confetti into the air when you shoot them in the head. You can even have some players play as Elites and try to thwart the remaining Spartans. If you want to tweak one of the built-in variants or create something entirely different, the extensive game options let you customize the makeup and toughness of each enemy wave, the weapons and shields available to you, the strength of gravity, and a lot more. It's a lot of fun to mess around with these options and see what you can come up with, and if you're not the tailoring type, you can easily download user-created variants by browsing popular variants or searching for keywords.
